6/5/23 - With the help of our volunteers, ground was broken on The Soldier's House Victory Garden on Sunday, June 4th at 1201 Jackson St Riverton. Contractor Brett Foss graciously donated his leadership, supervision and tools to assist TSH with the design and construction of a fence to protect the garden from central Wyoming's wildlife. This monumental step is the first of many to come for The Soldier's House's Victory Garden project.
This amazing progress made possible by the generous donation of time and energy by a number of volunteers from the Fremont County community. The Soldier's House relies heavily on volunteerism to deliver our services at no cost to the veteran. Events like the fence construction enjoy a diverse cast of skills and personalities interacting in a light-hearted and "well snacked" environment.
The fence was constructed, in part, from recycled boards donated in partnership with Pushroot Community Garden in Lander. The wire fencing creates an effective and affordable obstacle for fauna-based thievery. Tangible progress like this fence is a milestone for TSH as it makes its expanded vision an reality.
